Regno Unito - Amazon Inizia a Vendere Prodotti CBD

UK - Amazon Starts Selling CBD Products

Amazon Inc has started to enter the CBD -market world. The giant online retailer has started selling CBD products, but only as proof, with the retailer calling it a pilot program.

The global online retail giant Amazon is dipping its feet into the CBD market with the first ever products now on sale in a "pilot" program for UK customers only.

With estimates of the size of the booming global CBD market up to billions of dollars, Amazon's move is not surprising.

In a statement to BusinessCann, Amazon outlined its position as follows: "We always try to increase the selection we offer to our customers and help them find and buy anything online.

"The listing and sale of ingestible hemp products, including pills, e-liquids, sprays and oils that contain CBD or other cannabinoids are prohibited on Amazon.co.uk, except for sellers participating in a limited pilot project and by invitation.

"This pilot only applies to products listed on Amazon.co.uk and is not available on other Amazon websites."

Amazon's CBD pilot program limited to a select few

Research shows that products from around 10 companies are now available for sale to UK customers.

These include CBD oils, capsules, conditioners, creams and lubricants. These come from a number of companies, including: the US company Naturopathica, the UK company Four Five CBD, the Preston Natures Aid company, Vitality CBD, Weider, Green Stem, Skin Republic, Tower Health, of Nottingham and the UK company Healthspan.

Reaction of sector

Siân Phillips, CEO of the Cannabis Trades Association (CTA), welcomed the move saying, "From the CTA's point of view, it opens up the UK market for hemp and CBD oil sellers and a other platform for legitimate and compliant businesses. "

However, he says he is lobbying Amazon to ensure all products are subject to complaint, adding," On the downside, Amazon's diligence will ensure that sellers are reputable, have products that comply with UK regulations - i.e. no claims on medicines, properly labeled, etc. - and are they able to confirm their supply chain as Novel Food approved after March 2021?

" We have been in contact with Amazon and are awaiting contact from their policy department. "

Leila Simpson, Head of External Affairs at the British Association for the Cannabinoid Industry, h he stated: “We welcome any development in the retail space related to the sale of CBD.

“ Due to the legal clarity regarding CBD in the UK, we are likely to see more major retailers involved. This is good for the industry. "
