Canada - Medical Cannabis Pain Therapy
Share
A researcher found that a third of Canadian cancer patients use marijuana, according to a study published earlier this month.
To conduct the study, Omar Abdel-Rahman, a researcher affiliated with the University of Alberta at Edmont, consulted and analyzed data from the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS).
The CCHS is a survey that collects information from a large number of people on their state of health every two years.
Participants who answered yes to the question "Do you have cancer?" They were included in the study.
A total of 4,667 patients who have cancer were included in the research. The research found that more than 1/3 of Canadian cancer patients used cannabis in 2016.
Researchers wrote that the vast majority of patients believe that medical cannabis use has led to an improvement in the evaluated symptoms, in particular pain, poor appetite and anxiety.
The use of Cannabis for medicinal purposes has been legal in Canada with a prescription since 2001.
